I have been working on and with computers for many years. My first "confrontation" with a computer was in 1967 at Lowell Tech, now known as Umass at Lowell, while attending my first programming class in FORTRAN II and its ancestors FORGO and TECHGO.
Everywhere I went thereafter, and in all the jobs I held, I worked with computers either in programming, systems administration, or systems analysis.
For several years I worked independently as a programmer and service provider. I liked those jobs a lot.
One of my most well-known systems was very successfully used in an large employment registry which employed about 350 differently- ranked nurses working all shifts, including holidays, at all different pay rates, for more than 150 firms like hospitals and nursing homes. It would take at least two whole days to generate accurate invoices, but with my complex but simple-to-use program, and after normal ongoing data entry, it took only about two minutes!
After bachelors in physics, EE, and mathematics at New York Institute of Technology, I went on to earn a masters in physics at Adelphi University, a masters in electrical engineering from Tufts University, and finally an M.B.A from the Southern University of N.H.
I've worked for some prestigious firms such as RCA on the Lunar-Module Rendezvous Radar System, at Raytheon on the Patriot Missile System, at AT&T Bell Labs as a senior computer systems manager, and most recently, at the U.S. District Court as a senior systems analyst, where I also developed some extensive computer programs which were used for many years thereafter.
I have instructed classes at many colleges and universities and have taught computers and software applications to home- and corporate-based computer users with all different levels of knowledge.
I live in Ipswich with my lovely wife, Penny Foss, R.N., B.S., M.A., and five kitties. Contact me here.
